Care procedure for the natural walnut palm rest

The walnut palm rest component has been oiled at the factory. Like all oiled natural wood products, regular care and maintenance is required to maintain the protective finish, prevent drying, and keep it looking good while staying comfortable to the touch.

Regular Cleaning

  • Occasional light clean: Use a slightly damp (not wet) cloth, then immediately wipe dry. Avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol, or detergents as they strip oils.

Re-waxing

  • Frequency: Every 1 week to 3 months, depending on use, climate, and how dry the wood feels. If the surface looks dull, dry, or feels rough, it’s time.
  • Process:
  1. Wipe the palm rest clean and let it dry completely
  2. Apply a thin layer of wood conditioning oil or wood conditioning wax blend
  3. Rub in with a lint-free cloth, following the wood grain
  4. Let the oil/wax soak for 15 to 30 minutes
  5. Wipe off excess thoroughly to avoid stickiness
  6. Allow to cure/dry for several hours (overnight is best)

Precautions

  • Avoid standing water, spills, or soaking
  • Don’t leave it in direct sun or near a heat source as wood can warp or crack
  • If you ever sand lightly to refresh the surface, always re-oil afterward
  • If your palms are sweaty, there is a high risk of sweat damage on the walnut palm rests. Please make sure that the walnut palm rests are always well oiled. Please also consider stripping the oil finish and varnishing the walnut palm rests if you have sweaty palms.

Warning

The walnut palm rests are not designed for sweaty palms. We choose an oil/wax treatment as it provides a nicer and more comfortable finish for most users.

However sweat damage can occur if the walnut palm rests are not sufficiently oiled/waxed or re-varnished. Sweat damage is not covered by the warranty.
